Turn off automatic updates in Windows 10 in easy 6 steps


In last July Microsoft has launched the newly, revamped and reimagined Windows OS ever! We are quite fascinated with the new Windows 10 however there are some disappointing features too! Nobody likes to spend their bandwidth unnecessary, right? Seems Microsoft doesn’t cares about that anymore and made Automatic Updates a mandatory option in Windows 10. So how do we turn off the automatic updates in Windows 10? Well, you can obviously Switch to Linux! Ha ha! Just kidding, so here’s the steps you need to follow to turn off Automatic Updates in Windows 10.

Make sure you are logged in with an Administrator Account.

1. Press START BUTTON + X.

2. Select TASK MANAGER. Then Select SERVICES.

3. Now click on the OPEN SERVICES link at the bottom of the Task Manager’s Window.

4. Scroll down and search for “WINDOWS UPDATE”, Right Click on that and hit the STOP option. It will display you “Windows is attempting to stop the following service on Local Computer…”.

5. Once that screen is gone, again Right Click on the Windows Update service and click PROPERTIES and look for the “STARTUP TYPE” option. From that Dropdown select “DISABLED”.

6. Now hit APPLY and OK.

Well done! You have disabled the automatic Windows update in Windows 10 and saved some money! 😀
